A 10K swimming marathon will be held on lake Ohrid on Saturday, along Ohrid’s Macedonia quay. The race begins at 12h, and it is estimated that the best swimmers will take about two hours to complete the track.
Organized by the Ohrid Waves 2008 club, the marathon will be refereed by FINA judges, with the intention to have it part of the official FINA competitions in the future. Former swimmer Aleksandar Malenko said that he is glad Ohrid will have this race for the first time.
“I’m sorry that the 10K race could not be organized sooner, given that it is an Olympic discipline. We worked with FINA who will support the event logistically”, added Malenko, who is one of the organizers.
