Ahead of the UEFA Super Cup, which sees Real Madrid and Manchester United facing off for the coveted title, the City of Skopje is completing its final preparations to set the 'neutral fan zone', located in downtown Skopje on square Macedonia.
Thousands of football fans will flock to the Macedonian capital, which hosts the annual game on August 8. To that end, the City of Skopje in cooperation with UEFA and the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) are preparing a two-day program full of DJ performances and sporting activities.
One of the capital's landmarks, the Skopje Fortress, has been lit up in Super Cup colors as the city is already being transformed to host two of the best football clubs in the world.
The City of Skopje is opening so called 'meeting points', where groups of fans of Real Madrid and Manchester United will convene before departing for the Philip II Arena. Real Madrid fans will meet on Philip II square, while Manchester United fans will get together in front of the Mother Teresa Memorial House.
The 'neutral fan zone' opens on August 7 with a grassroots boys' game, organized by the FFM, which also organized a grassroots match for girls on August 8.
Visitors of the neutral fan zone will have the chance to take a photo with the three trophies of UEFA, trophies of the Super Cup, Champions' League and Europe League. Some activities will be also organized by UEFA's partners, namely Pepsi, Heineken, Master Card and Nissan.
