Government passes law on the use of languages

The new government of Macedonia at a session late Friday adopted a text of the law on the use of languages in fact promotion of the usage of the albanian language. Bi-langual police and military uniforms are planned as also for fire fighters and medical staff.


On that occasion, Premier Zoran Zaev and Hazbi Lika, Deputy PM in charge of the implementation of the Ohrid Accord and political system will address on Saturday members of the media in Ohrid, the government's press service said.

According to the government, once the law is adopted in Parliament, the Ministry of Justice, via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will forward the text - alongside the open issues it doesn't include - to the Venice Commission to ask for an opinion about the set of legislation.

The law on the use of languages comes as a result of the alignment of the national program on the adoption of the EU acquis, stated the press release.
