Macedonia: Number of tourists drops by 3,5 percent in March


In March, there were a total of 43.000 tourist in Macedonia, a drop of 3,5 percent compared to the same month in 2016, the State Statistics Bureau informed.

Hotels and other hospitality facilities reported a total of 91.532 night stays, which is also down by 3,2 percent.

Both domestic and foreign tourist numbers were reduced, by 4,3 percent and 3,1 percent respectively. But, foreign tourists stayed for longer periods of time, and the number of foreign overnight stays is 3,2 percent higher. Meanwhile, it dropped by 11,6 percent among domestic tourists.

Overall, the first quarter of 2017 saw a rise in the number of tourists by 6,9 percent, and in the overnight stays by 5,6 percent.
