FDI into Macedonia grows 29% y/y in Jan-Sept

Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Macedonia totalled 199.08 million euro ($211.4 million) in the first nine months of 2016, higher than 154.72 million euro a year ago, central bank data showed. Most foreign investments were absorbed by manufacturers of motor vehicles and transport equipment, and by providers of financial and insurance services, according to the data published on Wednesday. The largest FDI inflow in the first nine months came from Germany and Turkey, which contributed  23.2 million euro and 23.1 million euro to the total, respectively. Italy followed with 12.4 million euro. In the third quarter of 2016, FDI inflow into the  country totalled 56.1 million euro. Foreign direct investment into Macedonia totalled 216 million euro last year.
